The Case for Methodist Amendment One: Dr. Jim Bankston

As we United Methodists move through the Annual Conference season, various luminaries in the denomination are weighing in on the issue of Amendment One. Today we have a video from Dr. Jim Bankston, pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas (Texas Annual Conference), with Pastors Bill and Dawson Taylor.

Visit the Reconciling Ministries Network for more on the Taylors’ story. Note that this isn’t something that happened long ago and far away. Following his sabbatical, Rev. Bill Taylor left First UMC last year to begin his service as District Superintendent for the North District of the Texas Annual Conference.

Rev. Dawson Taylor continues to serve at the Cathedral of Hope, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, in Dallas, Texas.

If you are a pastor or other representative at an Annual Conference, I encourage you to allow the United Methodist Church to welcome all people, not just some. Vote for Amendment One.
